Lyra is another name for aerial hoop. Lyra is the equipment and the discipline of aerial hoop dance.

The aerial hoop provides the perfect frame for acrobatic bodyweight exercise and is a great way to tone muscles and learn a new skill.

You’ll be having so much fun during aerial hoop classes you’ll hardly realise you are breaking a sweat, not to mention building muscle and burning calories!

The Lyra Project was established in 2016 and was Pretoria’s first aerial hoop studio.  Today we cater for a wide variety of customers and offer private and group class training from absolute beginners to international elite level athletes.

The Lyra Project also offers 5-week beginner courses throughout the year. These courses allow beginners to learn the basics at a slow and progressive pace . This is an excellent introduction to the dance discipline.

Owner and head instructor, Alison Ballard, has been training in aerial arts since 2014 and is a highly regarded instructor, instructor trainer and international Pole & Aerial Sports judge and Head Judge (IPSF).

The Lyra Project also hosts aerial hoop parties. Group parties can be catered to suit whichever occasion required. You can find out more about these parties here.

Alison is also qualified in pole sports, aerial yoga, and pilates and has a qualification in therapeutic massage therapy. Please click here to find out more.
